A magnificent 18th century French trumeau mirror in the style of Louis XVI, the rococo carvings on the giltwood frame appear even more animated under a layer of gold. At the top of the piece is a near spherical cartouche – the fronton appearing as a bouquet of flowers tied with ribbon. Scrolling curls and acanthus leaves on the corners of the rectangular frame soften the geometry, underscoring the romantic qualities of this antique mirror.
