Luis Montiel Hand Knotted Wood Wayuu Weaving Bird Tapestry - Vintage
Luis Montiel (1914-1998), a Venezuelan fiber artists working during the mid-century, was known for his vibrant colors and unique take on folk designs.
This handmade wool tapestry features two brightly colored birds with beautiful plumage, facing each other. With shades of pink, orange, yellow, blue and mint green on a brick background. It's mounted on a thick piece of wood board, which has hardware for hanging. The artist has signed his one-of-a-kind piece in the lower left corner of the weaving.
Perfect for your 60/70s pad or bohemian home.
Measures 60 x39" . In good vintage condition, with very little wear and tear, and is signed with a stamp of his studio on the back (see photos).
