Toko Shinoda (1913-2021) was a Japanese artist who specialized in abstract sumo ink paintings. While she embraced the mid century abstract expressionism of New York, her works reflect a blend of traditional calligraphy with abstract expressionism. She was also a prolific writer, and published 20 books. This hand colored lithograph on Arches paper reflects her signature style. It is signed, titled, dated and editioned in pencil by the artist. This work consists of 100 pieces of which this is numbered 46.
This lithograph is in very good condition with faint toning to the reverse top and bottom margins, as well as tape remnants along the top margin on the reverse.
Dimensions: 18” width, 22.25” height
