Helen Frankenthaler was born in Manhattan in 1928, and was a New Yorker at heart all her life. She was an abstract expressionist who made a major contribution to post-war American painting. Frankenthaler was influenced early on by cubism, which then developed into landscape themes inspired by European painting. This original masterprint is an etching, drypoint and aquatint in 5 colors on Magnani paper. It is signed and dated in pencil lower right, and numbered 64 of 68 in the lower left.
