The album had an introduction by E.A. Seguy, an accomplished Art Deco artist, known for his works of beauty and patterns of the natural world. This is an example of the decorative Chinese craft of using lacquer on wood in successive layers, first working deep incisions creating hollowed out details and then finely applying paint. Coromandel screens were primarily made for European markets. They were folding lacquered panels with decorative scenes often with floral, landscape and pictoral elements. They were discovered by European artists and enjoyed success in France between 1910-1930. This image showcases a dense hillside l andscapewith men traveling on horseback. Zoom in to note the distinctive and varied textural quality of the dyptic screen. The details of the image are intricate and elaborate. The classic design featuring a diagonal perspective is enblematic of the Asian styling of the period. The lithograph dates to 1925 and captures the essence of the beautiful techniques of lacquerwork designing. It is a RARE and unusual lithograph. The image measures 8 x 12 inches; The lithograph to outside edge measures 11.5 x 15.5 inches. The design plate is in excellent antique condition conisistent with age and history.
