This … Read more This is a mid-century modern vase by Bitossi, an Italian ceramics company is te creation of designer Aldo Londi. This rare hand-painted treasure was from the "Thailandia" collection, and features gold leaf in addition to the multitude of deep and vibrant colors that have become synonymous with mid-century design. This piece is perfect when implemented for its intended use with succulents and desert blooms or simply as a show piece on a mantle or coffee table.

Aldo Londi born in Montelupo Fiorentino in 1911, he began working at a local ceramics factory at a very young age. After completing his apprenticeship, he worked at the Montelupo factory until 1935, when he moved to the Bitossi Ceramiche factory. At the end of the second world war, after spending a long period of imprisonment in South Africa, he returned to Italy and resumed working for Bitossi. In 1946 he was appointed artistic director of the factory and, faithful to a serial conception of the ceramic product, he began a production of highly creative and modern furnishing objects. He remained until 1976, returning occasionally even after retiring. The high level of quality achieved during Londi's era is proven by the numerous works he designed and created for the Bitossi factory, called Ceramiche Flavia that are found and treasured throughout the world. Aldo Londi died in Montelupo Fiorentino in 2003.
