Authentic German Travel Poster, 1950s, Berlin Cathedral, Berliner Dom. This poster is based on Herbert Werner Gewande's photo before the 1936 Olympics. It is newly framed and matted in a lovely blonde maple. The bronze sculpture in the foreground is Amazone zu Pferde, 1841, by August Kiss in front of the Atles Museum.
Note the subdued monochrome coloration as the German public was still reeling and filled with guilt from the events of the war. After the war, the communist party ordered many of the crosses on the cathedral be removed. Here, they proudly stand. V
