Organized in four compartments and a nest for cracking the nut
Betel nut is consumed on a daily bases in a large portion of the Indonesian Archipelago. In Java was offered as a sign of respect and hospitality when people would visit one's home.
Often these betel nut boxes stored nuts, leaves, tobacco and other spices
The presented here piece dates back to the late 19th / early 20th century
It could make a great jewelry or trinkets box as well
