Primarily in blue, pumpkin orange, gold and white. Interspersed with panels of maple leaves in red, orange, white and gold. The perfect table decoration for Halloween.
This substantial ginger jar comes with a hand-turned solid walnut lid and will not disappoint upon arrival.
Hallmarked on the underside with red hand painted characters denoting the Fukagawa - or the Scented Orchid Co. See below.
Excellent condition and an impressive piece.

Further Reading. Fukagawa is a place and a porcelain factory in the Arita region of Japan. The history starts with Ezaiemon Fukagawa who in 1875 founded Koransha (Company of the Scented Orchid) to produce wares for export. Not all Fukagawa pieces were marked with the Red Orchid or Mount Fuji mark. Some marks were simply written in blue or red characters with wide variations in the calligraphy - some artistically applied while others could be very simple. The Fukagawa company supplies the Japanese Imperial Household since 1910. See less
