The decoration is the family heraldry of the Piccolomini family, famed winemakers and estate owners in Montalcino
the tastevin is probably 800 silver which was common for the time and region and may have been Dutch in origin or Itaian. It was later gilded most likely in the 1950's as was the fashion.
