When found, it was loaded with books and still was very sturdy. The shelves are a solid thin grained wood that looks like mahogany and all of them have some scratches and minor wear. Shelves are 12" high except for the very bottom one. No breaks in the bamboo. With shelves that are 15" deep, this solid piece of furniture can handle heavy items for display or can even be filled with books again. A versatile utilitarian piece. See less
