This magnificent pair of armchairs with perfect proportions for ceremonial armchairs is in the purest Louis XVI style (straight lines, fluted legs) but the detail of the lion's paw feet indicates a slight shift towards the empire of Napoleon and his taste for the antique. This combination of two important styles in the history of French arts makes this pair a rare piece of furniture."
