Their commitment to "honest materials"—wood resembling wood and metal resembling metal—was evident in their groundbreaking 1946 collection, which introduced Dining Chairs (DCW/DCM), Lounge Chairs (LCW/LCM), along with tables and case goods. Herman Miller became the exclusive distributor and manufacturer of these pieces by 1947. Though the Lounge Chairs were discontinued in the mid-1950s due to slow sales, Herman Miller revived the design in the 1990s, reaffirming its status as a classic.
