This type of folk art is becoming hard to find, because the young people do not want to learn how to make these boxes. Even the boxes are made from scratch and then scenes are hand painted. There are two villages in Russia that make these boxes. One specializes in Fantasy and Storybook and the other in Folklore. When I had my brick and mortar I had a friend from Russia and that I bought from that had pictures of the girls painting and how difficult it was. They would balance their arms on wooden risers to keep them steady. See less
