Cast using the traditional lost-wax process, this small Dhokra bronze reflects one of India’s oldest surviving tribal metalworking traditions.
The figure stands beneath an arched ceremonial frame, its stylized features and rhythmic surface textures revealing the hand-built wax modeling that defines authentic Dhokra craft. Once fired, the wax is sacrificed and replaced by molten metal, ensuring each piece exists as a singular casting.
At 4.25 inches in height, the figure carries the quiet presence of a shrine object while reading as a sculptural artifact in its own right. The combination of ritual symbolism and artisanal technique positions the work comfortably within collections of folk art, ethnographic material, and small-scale bronze sculpture.
Provenance details unknown; acquired directly from a Northern California collection.
