Because the frame of this mirror is carved wood - rather than plaster or gesso - the frame is in … Read more Because the frame of this mirror is carved wood - rather than plaster or gesso - the frame is in excellent condition with few signs of age or wear. It probably dates from the early to mid-1800s as the frame shows design elements more characteristic of the Empire or Regency period rather than the later Victorian period. The frame measures 21 1/4 inches tall at the crest and 26 inches wide. The mirror itself (the looking glass) measures 15 1/4 inches tall by 23 inches wide. The mirror is not beveled; consequently, we suspect that it is not the original. However, the mirror is certainly old, and the back side clearly shows signs of oxidation and age. See less
