Graceful Oval Creamware Plate with basketweave pattern, reticulated, raised rim and hand painted blue decoration at edges. Central oval design also in blue. Mark on bottom of plate indicates it is by Joshua Heath who worked between 1770 and 1800 at Henley in Staffordshire. The mark includes the Georgian 1 (for J), H. See Antiques Magazine, July 1981.

The glaze is shiny and smooth and all pieces of the openwork rim are intact although one end of the plate has been carefully repaired with staples. There are two small chips on the bottom of the scalloped rim on one side of the plate. See images. less
