The porcelain group … Read more Superb example of 19th Century Meissen Porcelain. Bacchus and Attendants Figural Group modeled by Ernst August Leuteritz. The porcelain group depicts a youthful Bacchus, leopard skin draped across his lap, with a glass of wine raised above his head and a group of attendants, a semi-nude Bacchante, a baby satyr, and a putto. Bacchus, the god of wine, and his group of youthful revelers appear to be enjoying wine outside on an lovely day while engaged in a lively activity. The figures are painted with vibrant, rich colors with fine attention to detail in their clothing and facial features. An excellent example of Meissen skill and artistry.
