August Cook (1897-1990) "Towers of Converse" wood engraving on paper, pencil signed and titled.
Converse University is located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Cook attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) in Philadelphia and became the first instructor of art at Converse College where he remained for the rest of his life. We learned wood engraving in the 1940s.
