Color etching by Leon Rene Pescheret (1892-1961) "St. Philips - Charleston SC" color etching on paper, signed and titled.
Pescheret was one of the most respected color etching practitioners in the United States.
Here he renders an etching of St. Philip's Episcopal Church (1836/1850) on Church Street in Charleston, South Carolina. He places the Church at the bend of the street looking south, but then places South Carolina Society Hall (located on Meeting St) across from it, and surrounds it with various buildings that don't exist.
