This art pottery vase of hexagonal form features a colorful flambe glaze shading from rich maroon red to a fiery golden orange with dynamic blue crystalline clusters overall.

Very good condition and fully marked underfoot with an impressed circular FD / DESVRES / FRANCE mark in addition to hand-written marks: Fc 8 / 9140 / MADE IN FRANCE. The vessel measures 7.5 in. height x 5 in. diameter (at widest).

The Fourmaintraux Potteries represent a multi-generational family dynasty of art pottery producers working in earthenware and sandstone at Desvres in Northern France. As family members branched out into individual enterprises, company names were often hyphenated to distinguish one workshop/studio from another. Desvres was noted for the production of high quality faience and Fourmaintraux pottieries received recognition and awards from the 1889 and 1900 Universal Exhibitions in Paris and in Chicago in 1893.
