A Very Fine Antique Philadelphia Cherry Chippendale 4 Drawer Chest Circa 1780's
Philadelphia or Delaware Valley (PA or NJ) Circa 1780's
A very nice cherry chest of drawers, fluted quarter columns, and ogee bracket feet.
4 dovetailed cock-beaded drawers, with chippendale batwing brasses. The drawer lining secondary woods are pine and poplar. Typical Wide and low squatty Delaware Valley designed chest of drawers. The top is lip moulded, and slide dovetailed onto the sides of the case. Nice 2" overhang on the back.
Size: 44" wide, 22" deep, and 33 1/2" tall. Case Width: 47 1/2"
Condition: Very good preserved condition. Refinished, minor scratches in the finished surface from age/use. Some spots of minor repairs to the cockbeading. The brasses are replaced, in the original holes, covering later single borings for single handles. Slight smokey smell on the interior of the drawers.
