An incredibly-inlaid walnut Gentleman's Jewelry or Dressing Box, elaborately inlaid with compass, diamond, barber pole, Masonic and other designs, all … Read more An incredibly-inlaid walnut Gentleman's Jewelry or Dressing Box, elaborately inlaid with compass, diamond, barber pole, Masonic and other designs, all comprised of exotic woods. The box is in untouched original condition with a crusty old finish on the outside and opening to reveal a lift out tray for coins, rings and valuables, the inside top with its original mirror and the entire box lined with bright red velvet. Very good condition given its age, probably dating from 1860-80. There in one small loss to the little compass inlay on the top in the bottom left corner--easy to repair--but otherwise, in remarkably good condition. A masterpiece of marquetry inlay. See less
