We purchased it an auction on the east coast. Two lugs sit on top of the cask and would have featured a rope handle between them at one time. The front panel appears to brand the cask as one used by the Yamamura Sake Brewery Co. Though, we've had differing opinions as to which brewery the piece belonged to. One interpreter read the label to state "For exclusive use by Yahairo Sake Brewing Co., Ltd." The name of the sake is something like "Nuno-kuku" or "Fukkoku." It appears to be from the Hyogo Prefecture. See less
