Wildly collectable and quite possibly the first set of barware invented for a specific drink, Val's Dollhouse is proud to present this large Tom & Jerry punch bowl collection consisting of one bowl and ten mugs by Edwin M. Knowles Utility Wear, U. S. A. Made of semi-vitreous ceramic, featuring gold lettering and red accents, it is one to behold for the collector or barware aficionado.
Originally designed to serve the warm cocktail relative to eggnog called "Tom and Jerry", the exact emergence of the Tom and Jerry sets' first record is debatable. Reliable documentation exists, however, pointing origins back to at least the early 1800's.
The drink's name is a reference to Egan's book, Life in London, or The Day and Night Scenes of Jerry Hawthorn Esq. and his Elegant Friend Corinthian Tom (c1821), and the subsequent stage play Tom and Jerry, or Life in London (also c1821).
The Edwin M Knowles Company produced wares in the United States from 1900 to 1962.
