A black glaze … Read more A narrow neck sits atop a rounded body on this piece, acquired from a collection in Virginia. A black glaze wraps the vessel. It's from the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) - Korea's last imperial dynasty. "Joseon" is a reference to the Korean state of Gojoseon, which dominated the peninsula in ancient times. Dating is difficult, but comparable pieces are estimated between the 15th and 16th centuries. They are sometimes referred to as wine bottles. It is roughly 9.5" tall and roughly 7" wide. Expected imperfections are found in the glaze, including a crack in the glaze toward the base. The surface is pockmarked as is typical as well. The lip of the bottle presents a wave as shown in photos. See less
