A black bar set box with mother of pearl inlay from the early 20th century, England.
A box like this would have been used to house bar and glassware elegantly out of site. The box shows spectacular decorative details inlaid with mother of pearl and other hand painted elements. The box is finished beautifully inside so it could be used to store something special, or used as pure decoration. The box is decorated on top and the front face; the sides and back are painted with plain black. There are small feet to keep it lifted off a table surface.
