Charming large folk art Americana papier maché figure of a saluting soldier by Richmond, Virginia folk artist Harvey Fuell (d. 2017). Main materials of this sculpture are brown kraft paper, with a handpainted face, and wrapped black electrical tape for boots. Figure will stand on its own balance. Measures 33"H x 9.5"D x 9.5"W.
Artist signed on back right facing leg. Harvey Fuell was a self-taught artist in the outsider art tradition. His large body of work includes paper sculptures of people and animals. Mr. Fuell sold his handmade pieces primarily at a local Richmond farmer's market up until his death in 2017, and he can be seen with some of his pieces in the last photo..
