Chinese porcelain plaque depicting "The Eight Horses of Wang Mu" grazing in a field with mountains in the background. Hand painted in Qianjiang style, this is framed and mounted as a table screen. Dates early 1980's. Just the porcelain image area measures 14.5" x 9.75"
Note: Emperor Wang Mu was the 5th Emperor of the Zhao Dynasty, who dreamed of being an immortal and driving his 8 stallions, all possessing different powers, on a chariot to meet Xi Wangmu, the Goddess of the West.
