The frame … Read more Small carved and gilded frame from the Baroque period, made in the first decades of the 18th century. The frame is made of lime wood carving without applied parts; it is decorated with symmetrical leaf scrolls which end in the lower part in a coat of arms and on the cymatium in a shell on which a winged cupid flies down carrying a crown to the one depicted in the portrait, a probable bride metaphorically represented as Venus, according to the typical attributes , shell and Love. The proximity to the most famous frame attributed to Parodi, in which the narration of the judgment of Paris is depicted, is evident: the molding of the frame is the same as the two putti placed in the shell, in that case placed at the base of the frame, a detail that makes us think of a production by a pupil of the same workshop. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
