Antique soft paste porcelain plates from France. Made in the 1700s. They are from Chantilly France and hand painted. Soft porcelain means the French were still learning how to make the fine hard porcelain coming from and imported from China. They used glazes over clay to make the plate look like porcelain. The look was quite convincing. The plates are light weight.
These plates are from the soft paste porcelain factory in Chateau Chantilly, France.
The Chantilly Factory was owned and established by Louis Henry Bourbon, Prince de Conde.
The hand painted flower sprigs were influenced in style by Delft painted pieces and chinoiserie. The pattern was first made in 1725.
No two pieces are exactly the same because they are hand painted.
Each plate has imperfections and wear due to age, may have a fine chip or flea bite. Yellowing from age is to be expected.
