This piece … Read more Peter Roussel is an artist in Mendocino California where he uses alternative firing techniques to finish his pieces. This piece was hand thrown then sagar fired along with ferric chloride, and copper sulphate, sugar, and salt which are wrapped in aluminum foil and fired to different temperatures to bring out different colors. Sometimes they are fired several times. When this piece was heated to 1500 degrees, taken out of the kiln horsehair was applied which leaves a black carbon footprint. When the piece is finished the end result is this beautiful vase, it is a one of a kind work of art. See less
