The deep soup plates have a wide salmon-ground border with a broad double Greek-key design and gilt band borders. The central well with a gilt overall seaweed design and a central medallion of gilt bands and "en
grisaille" classical figures on a deep red ground. The rim with the typical notched Coalport design.

Diameter: 9 3/4 inches diameter x 1 3/4 inches (24.77cm diameter).

Condition: Excellent.

Reference: Geoffrey A. Godden, "Coalport & Coalbrookdale Porcelains," page 219, ill 98 for an identical plate and Color plate 1 for similar. Many pieces of this John Rose hard paste porcelain were sent undecorated to Thomas Baxter in London, Thomas Pardoe in Bristol and Donovan in Dublin.
