A striking mirrored pair of mid-century Japanese Satsuma-style porcelain cabinet vases, featuring intricate hand-painted moriage (raised slip) decoration. The hand-painted body showcases a detailed narrative scene depicting holy Arhat figures (Immortals) alongside Kannon, rendered in a rich palette of deep blues, forest greens, burnt orange, and bright gilding. The traditional textured slip-work introduces a wonderful three-dimensional quality to the garments and clouds, highlighted by delicate raised dotting. The vases are thoughtfully composed as a true mirrored pair, with the central figures facing inward toward one another to create perfect visual balance when displayed on a mantle, console, or shelf. The bases are marked with a vintage red-stamped rectangular "日本" (Nippon / Japan) export mark.
Excellent vintage condition. These pieces show light, age-appropriate wear consistent with age and gentle handling. There are no chips, cracks, or structural repairs. Minor overall crazing to the cream glaze layer, inherent to traditional Satsuma-style pottery. Gilded details and raised moriage paint remain vibrant and largely intact.
