This spectacular tetradrachm [coin] of Athena and an owl is trimmed with 22 karat gold, and is from circa 450 … Read more This spectacular tetradrachm [coin] of Athena and an owl is trimmed with 22 karat gold, and is from circa 450 BC - minted in Athens. On the obverse side is the head of Athena, wearing a circular earing and a crested helmet with three olive leaves. On the reverse side, an owl faces right with letters "AOE" written down the right side. On the owl's left is an olive sprig and a lunar moon; all within an incusive square. This coin weighs 17.16 grams and is 26.10 mm. It has been inspected and approved to be authentic by a professional Numismatic who specializes in ancient coinage.
