Wedding presents, after Gonzalès: a procession of well-dressed women and men enters a lavishy decorated room; at center a man carrying a small chest bows before the bride, who bows in return; on the right, in front of a fireplace, is a table supporting the unwrapped presents; the chimneypiece is surmounted by a mirror raising to the ceiling; the walls are adorned with ornament panels; a chandelier hangs from the ceiling.

Eva Gonzalès (19 April 1849 – 6 May 1883) was a French Impressionist painter. She was one of the four most notable female Impressionists in the nineteenth century, along with Mary Cassatt (1844–1926), Berthe Morisot (1841–95), and Marie Bracquemond (1840–1916).

Adolphe Lalauze (8 October 1838 – 18 October 1906) was a prolific French etcher who made the illustrations for many books. He won various awards and was made a knight of the Legion of Honour
