Marc chagall (1887-1985) the rooster and the fox, 1952 original engraving signed in the plate total edition of 200 copies on vellum 39.5 x 30.5 cm reference: catalog raisonné marc chagall and ambroise vollard #116 information: marc chagall began engraving the copperplates illustrating la fontaine's "the fables" from 1927. The print was completed on the presses of atelier haasen in 1952. A photocopy of the proof of the print signed by chagall will be attached to the engraving. Excellent condition this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
