This petite writing desk was made between 1875 and 1900. We know this because of the joinery in the drawer front. We have shown in a picture the Knapp joint which was used in that era and would also place the desk as being made in the United States.
The desk is French in style with its curved legs and the back is beautifully carved with acanthus leaves. If the back doesn’t suit you, it is easily removed by unscrewing the 3 brass screws. The drawer pulls are brass and original to the desk.
This desk is perfect for filling a small space or in a child’s room. It works well in a guest room between twin beds.
The height at the back is 38”. The table itself is 30”h.

When we found it, the writing surface had been the victim of markers and child’s paint. There was also a water mark. The top was sanded and stained to match and resealed with a hand rubbed finish. The desk still bears signs of being around for over a century, but it is ready to serve more generations. Please note, as the back is removable, it has a little "give" so a bit loose to the touch when attached. This does not affect looks or function. less
