Early 19th Century Southeast Asian Bronze Buddha, Circa 1800. The Buddha seated upon a triangular shaped base with lotus decoration, the Buddha's hands posed in a typical mudra/gesture. The head surmounted with an extended Ushnisha suggesting a Thai or Burmese origin.
The Buddha was acquired circa 1900 in Rangoon, the statue has been in the Campbell family by descent since then, when their ancestor Robert Campbell lived and worked in Burma's oil fields at the turn of the century and then returned to Glasgow in 1905.
