A flowering trellis design with undulating branches and flowers provides a classic structure. Then a selection of exquisitely detailed Victorian botanical representations from another design in the archive were interspersed within the trellis pattern giving way to a design that is `classicism recontexturalised` in the words of Giles. The Victorians were fascinated by nature natural history and new discoveries of flora and fauna. These extraordinary delicate and remarkable motifs featured In Trelliage are a fantastical example of this transporting us back to the era. Printed on a linen union for upholstery use.
