This Empire style walnut secretary commode, is supposedly late 19th c., though I feel it may be a bit more aged. The commode is set with a marble top, above three drawers. The upper drawer with fall front reveals an interior gallery fitted with four drawers. The case is flanked by columnar supports, rising on bun feet. See less

- The commode is presently intact and structurally sturdy. The marble top has inherent natural inclusions and fissures, as well as … moreThe commode is presently intact and structurally sturdy. The marble top has inherent natural inclusions and fissures, as well as sparse typical minor chipping to edges, areas of light discoloration, and abrasions commensurate with age and use as well as some deeper abrasions to the top left. See photos. All drawers are in working condition, including those at the interior gallery. The pulls and escutcheon of the secretaire section of case were later added. There are rubs and fills to the drawer with the later lion head pulls. The case has scattered minor filled restorations which are sparse in number and typical for 19th century furniture, as well as evidence of old woodworm commensurate with origin and age. less
