An elegant porcelain Chinese Export bottle vase, showing a powerful dragon hovering around the magical pearl, in a blue and white scrolling, auspicious pattern, with a six character seal mark and dating to the mid-20th century.
The vase has a glassy glaze with a soft very light blue tinge. The story of the dragon's pearl is one of the oldest and most well known tales in Chinese folklore. The neck is collared with plantain leaves rising from a further borders of flowers (peonies).
The foot rim is neatly cut with the glazed base inscribed in an under-glaze blue six-character Qing - Qianlong ( 1736 to 1795) seal mark, though we date this vase to the mid-20th century or possibly a little earlier.
Dimensions: 17 inches High; 8 inches diameter.
Condition: Good. Wear consistent with age and use. NO Cracks, NO Chips, NO Restoration.
