The oval-shaped … Read more Two Scandinavian Modern vases designed by Bertil Vallien (b. 1938) in 1978 for Rörstrand of Sweden's Terra Series. The oval-shaped porcelain vases are glazed in warm, earthy tones of bronze brown emphasizing bold, abstracted relief decor consisting of of raised dots and incised lines. The interior of each vase is finished in a darker glossy brown glaze.

The vintage pair were produced during the later Mid-century Modern period. Both pieces are in very good, undamaged condition and fully marked on each base: Rörstrand / Sweden over the designer's facsimile signature, B. Vallien. The larger vase measures 8.75 in height x 4.5 in width (at base); the smaller vase measures 6 inches height x 5 inches width (at base). See less
