A breathtaking pair of oversized club chairs. Designed ca. 1970 by Jules Heumann for Metropolitan Furniture Company, these were recently given a new lease on life and re-clad in a custom gray embroidered silk material with a monumentally large chevron motif, connoting peacock feathers… or perhaps bookmatched stone slabs. Their clean, hardware-free, cantilevered chromed frames make them seem to float about a foot off the floor, and they are incredibly comfortable and roomy to boot!
Expertly reinterpreted (and freshly upholstered) by renowned NYC interior design firm Solis, Betancourt and Sherrill, the chairs were lightened of their tufted, "land-yacht"-inspired padded surround, and a custom, down-filled back pillow was brought in its place.
They would be playfully augmented by a pair of accenting bolster pillows each (not included). The back pillow and seat are both removable and reversible.
Provenance: via auction from a NYC penthouse condo.
