Rare original 1968 French exhibition poster for Roger Chapelain-Midy (1904-1992) at the Palais de la Méditerranée in Nice, France. Colors are richly saturated and brilliant on a fibrous paper.
Born in Paris on August 24, 1904, Roger Chapelain-Midy was a distinguished French painter, lithographer, illustrator, and stage designer. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and is known for symbolic and mystical themes, earning him several prestigious awards, which included the Prix des Muses in 1930 and the Prix Carnegie in 1938. His contributions to the arts extend beyond the canvas; he also illustrated books and designed sets for theatre productions. He passed away on March 30, 1992, leaving behind a legacy of artistic excellence and innovation.
