Pair of Victorian style brass firedogs or andirons made in England. Late 19th Century. As Britain had moved to using coal for heating, smaller firedogs replaced andirons and were used primarily as tool rests and thus became smaller in size. More recently cleaned, polished and lacquered. Warm patina and signs of age and use.
