With beautiful low relief carving throughout, these elegant North Italian style three drawer commodes each have fine corforming Portor marble tops. The cases are interesting in shape: shallow serpentine fronts give way to outswept serpentine sides, which are wider at the back. The carving of these shaped side panels is especially lovely, laurel branches are tied with ribbons inside bead and reel edged panels. A fine wide carved band of garlanded laurel leaves borders the top edge all the way around. Similar but daintier motifs are found in the more densely carved drawer fronts. Belgian made, ca. early 20th century. Good antique condition with light wear, signs of age, patina to both marble and wood, waxed finish.
