A rare to market Jean de Lespinasse (French, 1896-1979) ceramic jug. Lespinasse is one of the icons of French potters. This piece, designed in the late 50's to early 60's, is straightforward in form, yet with unique stand out features such as the open top spout, and tapered handle. The brown background is embellished with an illustrative enamel design in olive green, white and blue. It is marked 46 and signed "JDL" on the bottom. We don't believe 46 is the year, as his studio did not start until the 50's. Could just be a design or inventory number. It is in overall great condition.
Circa: 1950's-1960's
