This vintage studio art vessel is a beautiful work of art, by Artist Joseph Hysong ( 1925-2008). He is a Monterey California ceramic artist who was educated at San Jose State and in the 1950's and 1960's was an instructor at the University of Hawaii's Ceramic program with the likes of Claude Horan, and Toshiko Takaezu.
This vase is utilizing a technique utilizing rings and internal glaze. This piece is from a Santa Cruz Mountains collection featuring pieces from California and Hawaii.
