About the poster: A vintage advertisement for the brand "Le Populaire" dating back to the 1950s, a brand specialized in workwear established in 1911. Depicted on the poster is their logo, a stylish French rooster wearing trusty overalls, a cap and a checkered shirt. He was created by J. Dizambourg.
This is a Buvard or Blotting paper, a porous paper capable of absorbing a small amount of liquid by capillarity. It is mainly used to dry aqueous ink when writing or drawing with a pen: the ink can be deposited irregularly and dries slowly and can cause stains and smudges, the use of blotting paper is often necessary. With the fountain pen whose ink is regulated and dries more quickly, then other writing tools ( ballpoint pen, felt-tip pen) this use has become less frequent. At the beginning of the 20th century, blotting paper was an advertising medium of choice and blotting papers have become collector's items. (Wikipedia)
The poster is ruffled.
